Hey, guys, good morning. Well, actually, I should say happy day. I mean, I’m coming to you at 7am this morning is so funny. These podcast episodes come to me at the most amazing times in the day. It’s usually in the morning, and I’m sitting here hanging out with you in my nightie, sipping my coffee, and we are going to chat today about your biggest fear.
Because it’s good to talk about the stuff out loud, right. And I just want to validate some of the thoughts and fears that are maybe really deep within you. And you just need somebody else to say them out loud, and really help you get through the weeds of your biggest fears and help you just start doing something about them instead of silently suffering over there. Just going through the motions, and being really unhappy and uncomfortable in your skin. So let’s get into this today. So I was having this conversation with the client the other day, and she’s like, You know what my biggest fear is not getting a handle on my health and my weight right now while I’m in my 30s.
Because she’s like, I know damn well that it’s going to be harder for me to rein this stuff in my 40s and into my 50s when age and the old hormone imbalances are a very real thing that are likely going to make it harder for me to get my stuff together. Right? Have you ever thought this before? You probably have. And you know what I like you guys know, I’ve been a weight loss dietitian for almost a decade now. I can’t even tell you how many times I have heard that come out of women’s mouths. And also something similar. But the regret later down the line. You know how many women I’ve talked to in their late 40s and their 50s and their 60s and even their 70s that are like, Oh my gosh, why didn’t I do something about this earlier? Because now, yeah, I’ve got my age working against me, my hormones are working against me. And it’s much harder to make change. Because I you know the expression, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks I disagree. However, the old dog learns new tricks, but it takes a little bit longer. Because your habits are so ingrained in your brain. And the longer that they’re there, the harder it is to change and the longer it takes to change and see the results within your life. So What’s scarier?
Taking the step now and doing something about this, getting a handle and reining this stuff in now and learning the tools and skills now or silently suffering over, they’re really getting frustrated and down on yourself and rolling into your 40s and 50s regretting that you didn’t at least try to do something about it earlier. What’s scarier? Because that’s kind of the question that you have to ask yourself, especially when you are in this battle with yourself. It’s like oh, is it really that bad? Do I really need to do something about this now, girl, you got to do something about this now because I can tell you it comes straight from the horse’s mouth with all these ladies that I’ve talked to later down the line and they’re like, damn, I wish I did something about this earlier.
Because instead of it’s taking, you know, six months, nine months, 12 months to see amazing transformation in their life. It’s taken like 12 months, 24 months, 36 months.
So, What’s scarier? That’s a really good question to ask because you get to pick your scary. Yeah, sure, it’s scary to step out and do something uncomfortable now, like it is. But is it scarier to do that right now when really things are going to be easier for you? Or is it going to be scarier and more of a more of a task to do that, you know, 5-10 years down the line.
And I actually posted this on my story today on Instagram, and hey, if you’re not following me on Instagram, girl, get over there. My handle is @leahvandolder, I love having you there. I’m on there every day. And I just love connecting with all my friends and followers on there. I posted this today and got a ton of feedback, right? Because it because women are DMing me and saying, oh my gosh, you highlighted exactly how I’m feeling. It’s exactly the thought process. And that mental battle that I have with myself, a lot of the times these biggest fears arise, especially when things get a little bit messy.
So for example, say you see one of your family members, their health is suffering, right? Maybe your mom was just diagnosed with pre diabetes, or your dad was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, or your grandmother just had a mini stroke.
Or maybe you were just diagnosed with hypertension, right, your blood pressure is starting to go up or you’re starting to see hormonal imbalances already. And your doctor just said something about your thyroid being a little bit out of whack.
It’s these type of events that are these Wake Up Calls. And then you start to think about some of your biggest fears. It’s like oh my gosh, like, well, this is happening to me already. Or, whoa, this is happening to my family members, this is happening in my close circle.
You really start to think about this stuff, when it happens within your personal life or within your family tree. And I’m going to open up and be honest with you here to like, yeah, maybe you haven’t had any personal struggles with my health or my weight. But I gotta tell you, this was my biggest fear around building a business because I was silently suffering and frustrated with myself and still in my, you know, nine to five clinical dietitian job and working for other people. And I had to ask myself, well, What’s scarier? Me being exactly where I am and five to 10 years still working for somebody else, still feeling confined to that nine to five, or taking that scary step now and actually doing something about it. Like holy shit, I’m so glad I did something about it. This was three years ago, when I decided to take that step.
You know, I’m at a point where, I mean, my life has changed drastically. Right? There is freedom of time, there is some financial freedom, you know, there is the freedom that I can work anywhere. I own my own boss, like I don’t need to go on here. But I’m just saying like, a lot can change when you Buck up. And you take a step into that fear now versus waiting. When things are worse when you’ve got other factors working against you, and it’s harder and it takes longer to see the results that you want.
I know you’re thinking all this stuff. I just gotta say it out loud, right? We gotta say this stuff out loud and make it real because if your thoughts can be so abstract, but hearing all of your thoughts out loud, it makes it really real.
And hey, if you’re loving this episode, go take 30 seconds of your time to go rate five stars and review and honestly helps the growth of the podcast so much. Plus it helps with the resources to allow me to pump these out every single week to come and connect with you because I love doing it. I mean, this is amazing. Just chillin in my nightie and my coffee and connecting with you guys on such a deep and emotional level. I mean nothing better than that. I love it.
So now that we’ve highlighted your biggest fear, we’re kind of questioning Well, What’s scarier you know, choosing you’re scary and kind of thinking about well, what would you rather I find this question is really helpful. What would you rather would you rather do something about this now, gain traction and your health and your weight loss now really feel accomplished? Now, have the tools and create the habits now. Create the six says now? Or would you rather wait 5-10 years, beat yourself up, kick yourself in the pants and feel even worse about yourself for not even trying?
Girl, the answer I think is right in front of you. If you want to work with me, go check out my show notes. There’s a link there to click to apply to work with me or check on my website, leahvandolder.com to learn more about my services, my coaching program, and just a little bit more about me.
Because I gotta tell ya, amazing transformation can happen so quickly. Like I was just talking to a client her and I’ve been working together for about six to seven weeks now. And we were laughing because she’s like, Oh, my gosh, I’m not even hitting snooze anymore. Like I’m waking up before my alarm. And you may not think that’s a big deal. But honey, it’s a big deal because I was laughing with her. I’m like, Mel, you were hitting snooze like three times, just six weeks ago. She’s like, I know. And on top of that she is already down seven pounds. She’s lost five inches, she is exercising four days a week, she has so much more mental clarity. She’s not drinking near as much alcohol as she was she’s got so much more focus, and she’s so much more productive in her day. And she feels incredible in her body. Because she’s eating good nourishing food. She’s prepping ahead of time, and she’s really paying attention to her portions. transformation can happen in six weeks, guys. It doesn’t have to take six years, it can take six weeks.
It can even take six days, I was talking to a brand new client last week and she sent me a message. She’s like, Hey, I just want to let you know I had an amazing win over Mother’s Day because I’m just chatting to you two days after Mother’s Day.
She’s like, I went into Mother’s Day and I nailed my pregame. So she had her healthy breakfast, she got out for a walk. She was hydrated before going into Mother’s Day dinner. And she said I filled half my plate with vegetables took two ribs instead of you know, five or six. And I had a few bites of potato because that’s exactly what I needed to satisfy versus filling half my plate with potatoes. And I walked away from the table feeling so comfortable. So proud of myself about my choice. Like that happened within six days of her joining the program. Actually, that happened within two days of her joining the program. These things can happen so fast. And other big transformations like six months, 12 months. I mean majority of my clients work with me for 12 to 24 months. But I was just talking to a woman last week her and I’ve been working together for seven months, because she was at a point she’s like, well, what’s going to be my scary taking the step today to do something about this or waiting another five years when I’m 55 and having a hell of a time trying to rein all this stuff in.
She got her bloodwork back yesterday. Pre-diabetes gone. High cholesterol gone. 25 pounds gone. 17 inches gone. You know how amazing she feels in her body. Unbelievable. She messaged me yesterday. She’s like, who am I? I’m a Filipino and I took half a cup of rice filled half my plate with vegetables and had this amazing fish dish that you know I use half of the cream that I normally use in it like who am I? Those are magic words to me. Because when women say that it shows me that they are acting differently. They’re being a different person. Guys, that’s the whole point here.
You are learning how to think differently, act differently you’re being the best version and the healthiest version and happiest version of you. That’s what this is all about. So yeah, your biggest fear stare at it. Have a good stare at it but don’t let it linger for too long. Really ask yourself well What’s scarier make a choice make a decision today because I think that it’s scarier to leave this stuff because hands down and gets harder as time goes on. Like I said I hear it all the time. There is so much regret for not doing something about your health and your weight earlier in life.
So don’t get 510 years down the road and think whoa like I really regret that decision that was right in front of me. Today might be your day girl check on my show notes apply to work with me now or pop on over to Instagram send me a DM tell me that you listen to this episode.
